Kosovo is making significant strides toward its renewable energy goals, driven by its commitment to the Energy Community Treaty and the ambitious target of reaching 32% renewable energy consumption by 2030. To support this objective, the Government of Kosovo has introduced key policies, including the Energy Strategy (2022-2031), a new Renewable Energy Sources Law, and the Climate Change Law. The successful completion of the first solar power auction and plans for an upcoming wind power auction further underline the country’s dedication to expanding its renewable energy sector.
To streamline the integration of renewable energy projects into local planning processes, a comprehensive MDP and MZM Database has been developed and published on Kosovo’s Renewable Energy Sources (RES) Portal. This Database, which tracks the status and revision timelines of Municipal Development Plans (MDPs) and Municipal Zoning Maps (MZMs), provides essential information for developers and decision-makers. By enhancing transparency and accessibility, the Database facilitates smoother project integration, helping Kosovo unlock new opportunities for renewable energy development across the country.
